In the NATIONAL races they have won: 1st, 2nd,4th ,9th,12th,15th 21st and many more early placing’s in the top fifty National.
The auction includes two children bred from the 2nd International Perpignan 2011.
Eleven(!) children bred from Provincial winners in North-Holland.
Also to be found pigeons bred from the 2nd,3rd,4th,8th Provincial North-Holland.
Brothers and sisters of a 1st Provincial.
An amazing family of pigeons doing well for us and other fanciers for years now including:
-National Champion in 2010 V. Vork
-Marathon North Champion ZLU in 2008 J. Schreurs
-Overnight Champion of North-Holland in 2011 R. vd Berg.
Pure facts and not stories from years gone by! Pigeons that are suitable for the morning and afternoon liberations.
These fanciers possess a stock loft of only 24 pairs built on the lines of the legendary ‘131’ of de Weert and the top colony of Toon van Beek, long distance lines of Nico Volkens complemented with our own and other Nation toppers.
Small colonies with a high average of prizes won including many early prizes. Winning the highly prestigious Marathon North Championship twice in a row is unequaled. The ZLU morning liberations are super and Peter has also been on the National top the past years! Peter is the winner of the Barcelona Classement first nominated bird in 2006-2008.
Verweij-Castricum, proud winners of the Golden Double Barcelona 2008 with a 34th and 36th Nat.
A massive strengthening of the stock loft has been achieved by two super hens from Fred Stet uit Monnickendam (NH); Bolletje who won a 1st and 4th National!! and Sjarapova winner of 2nd National. The Super-breeder Stet, bred from the famous Betuwe pair of Barcelona specialist Jan Peters has also been acquired and has been paired to the two top hens.
Because Comb. Verweij-Castricum believe that it is important to be honest and guarantee accuracy they have joined the NOOK (National organization breeding centers). All youngsters have had their paramyxo jab.
The TOON, according to many writers, the best long distance pigeon in the World from the races above 1000 kilometers!!!

Clocking early birds with a high prize average is important for Jan and Michel but the enjoyment of seeing their champions arriving home is the most important.
In 2011, on the 29th of July to be exact their birds arrived like a train!
Something that was previously thought of as impossible on the long distance was possible, read this:
29/7 Cahors in North-Holland against 3.151p.: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 10th, 17th, 33rd, 38th, 64th, 99th etc., 56 birds entered, 24 prizes won.
National 10.381d. : 12th, 18th, 41st, 52nd, 75th etc.!!!!
The long distance program in 2010 consisted of five National races. Their ‘worst’ prize for their first arrival was the 53rd National Section 2. Nobody else in The Netherlands could equal this! Lets recap on all Nationals:
17/6 St. Vincent 5.336p.; 28th, 77th Nat., 8 entered/ 4 prizes
21/6 Cahors 6.397p.; 23rd Nat., 10 entered/ 3 prizes
9/7 Tarbes 3.363p.; 24th Nat., 8 entered/ 5 prizes
17/7 Bordeaux 6.101p.; 53rd, 81st Nat., 26 entered/ 10 prizes
30/7 Cahors 10.325p.; 15th, 64th, 79th Nat., 38 entered/ 19 prizes.
Try to equal that! Year in year out early prizes and a 50% prize percentage, including all yearlings that were sent twice this year.
In 2009 more than 60% prize with impressive results.
Bordeaux 20 entries, North-Holland 1755p.; 14, 35, 72 etc. S2 6299p. ; 67, 130, 290 etc. 8 prizes.
Mont de Marsan 12 entries, North-Holland 932p.; 6, 30, 39, 46, 48 etc. S2 4144p.; 40, 151, 196 etc. 11prizes!
Tarbes 17 entries, North-Holland 1196p.; 5, 31, 38, 46 etc. S2 4102p.; 21, 116, 139 etc. 12 prizes.
Bordeaux 30 entries, North-Holland 4258p.; 9, 24, 56 etc. S2 13393p.; 36, 76, 164 etc. 18 prizes.
In 2008 Jan en Michel sent birds to Barcelona for the First time, this debut went particularly well. Three prizes were won from the six entries starting with 34th and 36th National and 66th and 68th international!
St. Vincent is their most important race, they have clocked early birds for years now from this race, is there a better St. Vincent specialist in The Netherlands? In 2008 7 entries and 4 prizes beginning with 98th, 177th and 211th prize.
In 2007 there were only two tough afternoon liberation races and they did extremely well in both.
Bordeaux on the 8th of June, 18 entries and 9 prizes in North-Holland against 2.486p.: 16th, 31st, 37th enz., in S2 against 8051p.; 65th, 116th, 140th enz.
National Bergerac 26 entries, 15 prizes; in North-Holland against 3.323p.: 31st, 48th etc., in S2 against 10.903d. ; 47th, 209th etc.
National Montauban 9 entries, 5 prizes; in S2 against 1.255p : 8th, 14th etc. ( Int.) National against 7.000p.: 30th, 49th etc.
They were really in their element during the 2006 season which was a really, really tough season, Study the result of the three National races:
St. Vincent 8 entries. North-Holland 1957p. ; 18th, 40th, 57th etc. Nat. S2 6830p.; 77th, 172nd, 259th etc. 6 prizes.
Mont de Marsan 6 entries. North-Holland 967p.; 9th, 10th, 27th etc. Nat. S2 3704p.; 47th, 48th, 180th etc. 4 prizes.
Bergerac 20 entries. North-Holland 4398p.; 11th, 22nd, 30th, 64th, 66th, etc. National against 14576p. resulted in 49, 97, 132, 254 ,258 etc.,13 prizes.
In 2005 it went really well with six times Teletext from the five races!
In the three National races they were the best in the whole country and winners of the ZLU trophy. The first clocked birds counted but they happened to also be their nominated birds, this performance was achieved by the following series:
St. Vincent, 5th Nat. with their first nominated (TOON)
Mont de Marsan, 10th Nat. with their first nominated (TOON)
Bergerac, 40th Nat. with their second nominated (HEINTJE).
Nobody did beter in the National races in 2005.
The Modern Long Distance Pigeon
We spoke earlier about the modern long distance pigeon, de birds of Comb. Verweij-Castricum and Peter de Haan love tough conditions, warm weather and headwinds. But after saying that, with tail winds and even shorter distances they are also capable of arriving early. Michel and Jan finished amongst the champions of the sprint and young bird races with the same birds.
They have less than 9 meters lofts to do it all.
Brothers and sisters of TOON regularly give top birds that win prizes fron all distances. The original super pair of Comb. Verweij-Castricum dates from 1995. Descendants of this pair are fantastic and are capable of winning prizes in the first ONE hundred National, Jan and Michel lost count of the number of prizes. An enorm amount of prizes were won by Peter and other fanciers. Have a good look at the references.
